To fabricate high performance solar cell and organic electronic devices, surfaces and interfaces are of paramount importance. My group at OIST is making concerted efforts to investigate relevant surfaces and interfaces in these devices and develop innovative strategies to further improve their performance. In this talk, I will introduce our research progress on real-space atomic-scale imaging of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite, the vapor-based methods that can be used to fabricate semi-transparent high efficiency perovskite solar cells, and the influence of molecular order at the gate dielectric / organic film interface on carrier mobility in organic thin film transistors.
Prof. Yabing Qi is Unit Director of Energy Materials and Surface Sciences Unit at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University. Prior to his current appointment, Prof. Qi was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University. He received his B.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Nanjing University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and University of California Berkeley, respectively. His research interests include perovskite solar cells, organic electronics, energy storage, surface sciences, advanced material characterization, energy materials and devices. Dr. Qi has published ~60 peer-refereed papers and is the inventor for 9 patents/patent applications. He has delivered 80+ invited and contributed research presentations at international conferences, technical meetings and universities. As Symposium Chair, Prof. Qi organized International Symposium on Organic Electronics (Okinawa, Japan; October 3-5, 2012) and International Symposium on Functional Materials (Okinawa, Japan; January 25-29, 2016). In the 2015 Materials Research Society Fall Meeting & Exhibit (Boston, USA; November 29-December 4, 2015), Dr. Qi co-organized Symposium AA: Organic Semiconductors—Surface, Interface and Bulk Doping. In the coming 2016 Materials Research Society Fall Meeting & Exhibit (Boston, USA; November 27-December 2, 2016), Dr. Qi will co-organize Symposium ES3: Perovskite Solar Cell Research from Material Properties to Photovoltaic Function.
