In this talk, I will present our theoretical work on the spin wave dynamics in magnetic insulators. I will analyze recent experimental observations generated by an ultrafast focused laser pulse, where we find that the spin wave excitation is dominated by the acoustic-wave-mediated mechanism. In our theory, we take into account both volume and surface spin wave modes in the presence of applied, dipolar and magnetic anisotropy fields and include the dependence on laser spot exposure size and magnetic damping. In the second part of this talk, I will discuss the spin wave modes in YIG and GdIG calculated from the atomistic model, which may help to understand various experiments such as spin Seebeck effect and ferromagnetic resonance. The temperature dependence of the spin wave spectrum is obtained from a mean field approximation in the presence of thermal excitation.
沈卡教授在中科大取得学士和博士学位,之后分别在美国密苏里大学哥伦比亚分校和荷兰代尔夫特理工大学进行博士后研究,2017年入选青年千人项目成为北师范教授。沈卡教授主要从理论上研究电子自旋相关的物理现象及其潜在应用,比如:导体中自由电子的(逆)自旋霍尔效应和自旋生电等自旋-电荷转化效应、磁性绝缘体中局域电子的自旋波激发与传播以及金属-磁性绝缘体复合结构中的自旋塞贝克效应等。研究内容涉及自旋与自旋、自旋与晶格以及自旋与光的各种相互作用。
