摘要:
Nano-optics constitutes a complementary approach to high-resolution scanning force; both linear and non-linear optical techniques in the VIS and (N)IR wavelength range have been used down to the diffraction-limited optical resolution. This talk surveys the field of nano-scale optical issues when probing both bulk ferroic domains and domain walls. I will review the possibilities of near-field nano-spectroscopy in the VIS, IR and THz wavelength range, with the special focus on ferroic domain wall inspection. Furthermore, also the non-linear optical properties will be addressed through second-harmonic generation (SHG), near-field electro-optics, and even Cerenkov-type SHG experiment.

报告人简介
Prof. Eng is full professor at the Technische University Dresden since 1999. His research focuses on nano-scale physical and chemical phenomena and the experimental evaluation and detection of those down to the atomic length scale. Inspecting electronic, magnetic, optical and mechanical properties, but also their mutual correlation and influence are the specialty of Prof. Eng’s group. Materials in their research focus are organic/biological, semiconducting, insulating and also metallic nano-composites.
